RELIGIOUS AWARDS - YOUTH

( ANYONE )

OFFERED BY: P. R. A. Y. (for Medal and Patch)     |      B.S.A. (for Knot Award)
REQUIREMENTS:

P.R.A.Y. is an organization that offers this program to all children and adults. You don't need to be a Scout to participate.

The Medal and Patch are available to ANYONE (youth only - see below for information on Adult Awards).   The Knot Award and Devices are available only to SCOUTS.

The Medal and Patch shown are representative of what's available. Your actual award may look different, depending upon your faith.

The Square Knot Award is offered by the BSA for those Scouts who've completed the Religious Program.  Program Pins (Devices) are used to show which program (Cub Scout, Webelos, Boy Scout) the Scout earned the Knot under.

The Religious Square Knot Award is the only award that a Scout can earn that can be worn on his Cub Scout Uniform, on his Boy Scout Uniform, and on his Leader Uniform.

UNIFORM PLACEMENT: The Religious Square Knot is worn on the Uniform, centered directly above the left-shirt-pocket. Program Pins are pinned through corners of the Knot.

There are four levels of the God and Country program for Youth:

-  God and Me (Grades 1,2 & 3)
-  God and Church (Grades 6, 7 & 8)
-  God and Family (Grades 4 & 5)
-  God and Life (Grades 9-12)

The Four-Star Pin is an additional Award, available only to those who've earned all four levels of the God and Country program.     Awa_Religious_4star.jpg (5315 bytes)

There is also an Adult Program.

Programs of Religious Activities with Youth (P.R.A.Y.) is a not-for-profit organization whose national board of directors includes representatives from Protestant and Independent Christian Churches, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., and Camp Fire USA. P.R.A.Y.'s mission statement is to "foster the Christian growth of children, youth, and families through churches and youth serving agencies." Everything that the P.R.A.Y. national board does is centered on the two parts of this mission statement: collaborations between churches and agencies, and the God and Country program.

This award is earned independently by the Scout, working with a religious leader through his church (or similar). The Workbooks for the Scouts, and the Guidebooks for the religious leader are available through the Scout Stores, or directly from P.R.A.Y.

P.R.A.Y. collaborates with many different faiths to provide religious programs for youth, Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Buddist and others.  See their Website for specific information.

You can contact P.R.A.Y. at 800-933-7729, or take a look at their Website for further information on their religious growth programs.

The BSA information regarding this Award is on this page at the BSA Website.
