| REQUIREMENTS: This patch
encourages the Scouts to read good books. To earn it, you must write a one-page report
titled: "The Best Book I Read This Year." The book can be fiction or
non-fiction, but the report has to be in your own words, and it must be less than 500
words.
There are three age categories:
- 8 years old and younger
- 9 and 10 years old
- 11 years old and older
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A CONTEST AS WELL AS AN AWARD: First-place
winners in each age category will receive a $100 gift certificate. Second-place winners
will receive a $75 gift certificate, and third-place winners a $50 gift certificate.
Everyone who enters will get a patch. There are actually four patches. They give a
different one each year, so if you enter four years in a row, you'll collect all of them.
To enter, send your report, along with a business-sized, self-addressed, stamped envelope

NOTE: This is an annual Award. All entries must be postmarked by the end of
December of each year.
